As a dark eary December Monday drew to a close all eyes turned to Oldham Academy North astroturf pitch as Team Lord and Team Keav locked horns again. Team Keav this week were without their skipper so the captain’s responsibility fell onto Mashley. Contrary to last week it was very apparent early on that team Keav had a structure. With Team lord still looking as unified and organised as previously seen however with a few slight changes as Swanny swapped allegiance over to Team Keav and last week’s shock goalscorer smudge took the gloves. Play was smooth with both teams looking compact. A few quick passes from Team Keav saw Tom Gillis take a strike. Pin-balling off a couple of men the ball trickled into the bottom corner and against the odds team Keav took the lead. Team Keav carried on looking strong and a hit from up and coming striker Richard Doherty put TK 2 goals in front. Unlike previous weeks the game did start to open up as early as midway through the 1st half as both teams carried on attacking and next thing you know it’s 3 goals in the first half but this team for Team Lord, Jarro taking his goal well to add to his ever progressing tally. Swanny made a couple of decent saves and the game lay fairly even, cracks started to show after the Jarro goal for team Keav with panick setting in and Team Lord persisting. However, the half time score stood at 2-1. The 2nd half started 7 a side, team Lords captain commencing battle with his MasterChef kebab from last night. Team Keav started the 2nd half really positively, playing simple football, creating space and making chances. This positive start did however make them load into cruise control. Lord was back and then popadom ankles Berty took a tumble leading it back to 7 a side. Reversing into cruise control and a false sense of security team Lord pounced and before you knew it the score stood at 2-2. Yet again Team Keav looked panicked and attempted to just see the pressure out. after the worlds longest 1 on 1 between Dicko and Toxco finally came to a finish the ball was picked up and either wade or Jarro scored to make it 3-2 to team Lord. Then…
A goal for the ages. Zeek takes the kick off and Tom Gillis takes a shot. The ball hung in slow motion travelling closer and closer to the top corner. Moving even slower then the ball, smudge seen back pedalling and a good performance by the Lord Keeper went understated as the ball nestled in to make it 3-3. Some nice positive late attacks from both teams and the game petered out as a 3-3 draw. Zeek, Dicko and Toxic most likely having there best games to date, and a few underperforming players from both teams. Good turn out again. On to next week.
