Shaws U11's softball team played with the confidence of 8, despite being only 5 of them! Bury won the toss, choosing to Bowl first. Harry led the team, with Ed and Gabriel opening the batting. Making the most of Bury's misfielding, scampering between the wickets, they built up some steady runs. Sophie and Vince added more runs to the scoreboard with some lovely shots, taking the opportunities to run 2. Ed and Harry were loving the legside corner, shot, adding a few 4's. She didn't want to be left out, so Sophie added a lovely solid 4 with her confident batting, this girl is really holding her own with the boys! Shaws turn to Bowl and we saw 3 amazing catches on the leg side boundary from Harry and Ed, setting the tone for the rest of the game. Gabriel was up next with his well executed run into a high catch. Ed's bowling to the feet proving very difficult to hit and Sophie bowling a lovely length rattled Burys nervous batters. Shaw weren't supported in the field by the other teams borrowed fielders unfortunately, who watched a number of balls through for 4s. However, smooth consistent bowling from Harry, earnt him an excellent wicket to show Bury that Shaw were not fumbled by their big hitters and back in the game. Ed showed Bury's last pair who was boss, with a wicket from his first ball. A catch from Bury's helper was very much appreciated at this point. Absolutely fantastic catch by Sophie really denting Bury's score now. Gabriel's bowling found the length right to the toes of their best batter, keeping him at bay. Harry was also on the ball, seeing an opportunity to run Bury out with a lovely throw. Great team work by Ed and Vince on the boundary helped us into a draw with 2 balls left! Bury moved 1 point ahead and on the last ball, Shaw CC onlookers were praying for a miracle.... which was delivered by Harry. Diving for the ball from behind the wicket, with one of the best catches of the match, our Captain took the win from Bury's hands. A well deserved win for Shaw ?'
