On a damp night at Shaw we welcomed Glodwick CC.
After winning the toss we decided to bat after a tricky first ball normality resumed and some boundaries followed and with some great running in between the wickets we got off to a steady start. Then came Harry Brown crashing fours everywhere along with a sublime cover drive from young Ali we stepped on the gas. Then up steps big Billy Franklin and after listening to advice and ignoring his dad he took Shaw onto another level. Then in a scene reminiscent of the story of David and Goliath, chewy took guard against an under 11 6 foot two bowler steaming. He held strong not losing his wicket and Henry at the other end batting with ease left us in control of the game.
Then onto the bowling. The weather was dark but the stumps were bright. The zingers were lighting up regularly with what felt like almost every ball with Bridget taking a hat trick on her way to unbelievable figures of (6-4). Then the ball was thrown to the wizard (Ali) turning it sideways along with some lightning hands from Harry Brown behind the stumps led to one of the best dismissals I’ve seen in junior Cricket for a long time. As the game went on it appeared we were just too strong for the opposition and with a few more zingers lighting up, it was a comfortable win.
In Mr Lord/Lordy/Sir's absence thanks go to the ever present Gareth for scoring and big shout out to Jack Harrop (pid) for umpiring.
On we march under 11’s Shaw CC.
