Legitforleesy was born from a desire to honour my brother, Mark Lees. Mark passed away from cancer in 2015, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, fearlessness, and incredible toughness. I wanted to create something that embodied his spirit.
What started as a tribute has grown into a community of resilience. Since 2020, we have pushed our limits:
2020: A 29km run for Mark’s 29th birthday (Raised funds for Clic-Sargent).
2022: The "Goggins Challenge" (4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours) for young Alfie Fagan.
2024: The "5km on the Hour" challenge for the Squibbs family.
To date, we have raised nearly £30,000. But we aren’t done yet.
The 2026 Challenge: April 4th at Hyfit, Saddleworth.
This year, we return to the "5km on the Hour" challenge, with a new addition: Lift-it-for-leesy. Participants can choose to run 5km every hour or complete a workout every hour.
Our Mission this Year
We are coming together to support Graham and his four children—Lottie, Heidi, Alfie, and Archie—following the heartbreaking loss of their mother, Rebecca. Rebecca was a pillar of strength who dedicated her life to her family, specifically caring for her son Archie, who has autism.
Legitforleesy exists for moments like this: to stand by a family during their toughest time.
As a club, we would greatly appreciate any help towards the charity or support on the day.
The event takes place this Saturday 4th April. In Saddleworth with a 10am start time. We hope to see many of you there supporting this incredible fundraiser and all participating in the events ??
